About
Meet Brian.
Brian White is a Registered Psychologist in good standing with the College of Alberta Psychologists (CAP) and a member of the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA).
Brian believes, backed by research, it is within a positive therapeutic relationship that results are achieved. Brian works hard to gain client trust and demonstrate his competence to best assist client’s in living out their values. Brian practices non-judgementally with empathy and respects client autonomy to help his clients thrive.
Brian prefers treating a person through symptom reduction above a focus on diagnostic labels. He will use an eclectic approach that may include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), as well as skills and principles from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).
Brian is trained in the following Evidence Based practices:
Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI). Brian is currently advancing his knowledge through a Complex Trauma Certification Training program. Brian is also interested in Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, and Prolonged Exposure (PE). When not working Brian is entertaining or being entertained by his six-year-old son. They can likely be found at the park, swimming pool, or using their imagination in a treasure hunt. Brian is also developing his skills as a backyard mechanic and novice landscaper/carpenter.
Brian does not work with families, couples, or clients under the age of 18.
Brian practises at our Calgary clinic.
